The Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein is one of the most famous concert halls in the world and a central venue of the Wiener Mozart Konzert. Since its opening in 1870, in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I, the Musikverein has stood for the highest musical quality and tradition.
The hall gained worldwide recognition through the annual New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic, broadcast internationally. It is also a regular performance venue of the Wiener Mozart Konzert.
Its exceptional acoustics – often referred to as the “Golden Sound” – are the result of ideal proportions, classical architecture, and numerous sound-diffusing elements such as balconies, sculptures, and galleries. The result is a perfectly balanced and clear sound, considered a global reference.
The Golden Hall offers around 1,700 seats and is fully air-conditioned.
