The Vienna State Opera is one of the most renowned opera houses in the world and a prestigious venue for the Wiener Mozart Konzert. As the “First House on the Ring”, it was shaped by legendary figures such as Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss and Herbert von Karajan.
After the building was severely damaged during the Second World War, it was faithfully restored and reopened in 1955 with a performance of “Don Giovanni”. Today it offers around 1,700 seats and about 560 standing places and is one of Vienna’s most important cultural institutions.
